Lydia Thompson, Ph.D., ASA is an accredited appraiser of Asian art and an authority on the art and archaeology of China. She has more than 25 years of experience as an art historian, educator and appraiser. She has published scholarly and general interest articles and catalogs on Chinese art and archaeology. More recently she has taught and written on the fast-moving Chinese art market. She has received fellowships for her research on Chinese art from The National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. and the Kress Foundation for Art History. Dr. Thompson was educated at Middlebury College and received an M.A. and Ph.D. from New York University, Institute of Fine Arts.
